ANSWER: Puzzle #1

Nobody got this puzzle. I guess it was too hard. Here's the answer:

Here is Canale's card:



The first thing I did was invert the image (meaning turn it into its negative):



And then I rotated it 180 degrees:



And the snippet you see in Puzzle #1 is taken from the lower left corner of this last image.

The clue was that if you look at the color right around the blue and orange stripes, it's white, not black as on all the regular cards in the set. I thought somebody would pick up on that, figure that the image had been inverted, and figure it out from there.

I'm going to try some simpler puzzles...look for the first post on that later today.
