Suddenly, in mid-windup, Stu Tate thought back to Susie Parker, his tenth-grade crush. When he had called to ask her to the semi-formal, she said she was washing her hair. For the first time in his life, Stu suspected that Susie was being less than truthful.
ReplyDeleteThe shortness of Stu Tate's name just underlines how fantastic the name Ed Ott is. As hard as Stuart tried to shorten his name to seven letters, he still couldn't top Ott's glorious 5.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that after all these years, somebody has finally tied Ed Ott for shortest baseball name. (For those who do not know, Felix Pie now going by the nickname "Fi", giving him a 5-letter name as well.)
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense if his last name was prounounced Pye... but Fi Pee-Ay? Not sure about that...
ReplyDeleteJust too bad that Tate didn't record an out in his second appearance. Defense didn't help him either with the two unearned runs.
That was a joke on my part, of course.
